May 4th was the First Fridays Artswalk in Pittsfield, MA. As usual, I showed a print or two with the Berkshire Museum Camera Club’s display at the museum. But this month I also had a solo display at RJ Stohr Diamonds & Fine Jewelry on 137 North Street!
My display was called Disorienting Reflections. The collection played with reflections to engage people’s minds. I included works that intended to make the ordinary look exotic, but there was usually something more going on. In some cases, a quick glance would lead viewers to think they’d figured an image out, but then they’d notice details that threw off their initial impressions. In other cases, the images were more abstract, offering only fragments of a puzzle for the mind to play with.
The eight prints were on display throughout the month, the opening reception was held from 5-8pm on May 4th. With the weather warmer (though probably not drier) than it had been the last several months, I encouraged people to stop to see not only my display, but the many other exhibits that will be available on the First Friday.
